Why enter a HD image

Our club has decided to change the image entry rules to allow the entry of full HD images with immediate effect. Why have we done this and what does it require from you as photographer?

Why HD

Listed below are some of the reasons why HD images are the way forward:

  • Our club has a Full HD projector with which we display the images. Display technology has increased in size and quality and we must adapt to it
  • The pixel size of a 1024 x 768 image is 0.78 megapixels. The pixel size of a 1920 x 1080 image is 2,07 megapixel s. The HD image has 2.6 more pixels than the old format
  • Displaying a 1024 x 768 image on an HD projector has the effect that each pixel of the image is shown over 2.5 times larger than on a XGA (1024x768) projector. If there is a problem with the image it will be amplified when projected on a HD projector.
  • Displaying a well processed 1920 x 1080 image on a HD projector will show a sharper and truer image. The image will display as you have prepared it on your computer. This does not mean that it won’t show any problems in the photo, you will still have to use your post processing skills in preparing your club image.
  • All the above points come down to one main point and that is better quality images!

The salon and international trend is moving to HD. It will be dumb of us not to make the move ourselves.
